My name is Radhika Thapaliya from Madanpur, Nuwakot, Nepal and currently living in Virginia, USA watching my father, Tulsiram Thapaliya's critical prognosis at the Fairfax Hospital. I am sending this e-mail to all the members of Nepali Diaspora here in the USA and abroad with my family's sad story.
My father arrived in the USA in August of 2008 with Green Card DV Lottery program leaving behind five children (including myself) and mom in Nepal. The reason my father came first by himself is – he would make necessary arrangement in order to set up for the family and eventually, we all would be joining my father in the USA. Sadly, my father was hit by the car on route 50/Chantilly area in Virginia on November 21, 2008. Since then he is in the Fairfax Hospital's traumatic coma with life support. My father's medical team is not optimistic on positive prognosis and further making the situation worse they are not even certain as to how long he will have to be in life support with tube feeding. I am very thankful to Fairfax Hospital and the entire medical team including hospital management for giving such a great care in this difficult time of my father's life. I am equally thankful to Prem Sangraula, Manju Sangraula and the entire family for hosting me while I am here in the USA to visit my coma-ridden father. Also, I am overwhelmed with the support from many Nepali families that many of them have provided me ride to the hospital and back home and all the moral and emotional support.
The hospital has exhausted all the treatment of my father and referred to the private nursing home for rehabilitation and long term care. My father's condition is unconscious and dependant on tube feeding. As he is new in the USA, he does not even have a health insurance. Hospital bills alone for last four weeks is expected to be in thousands and further nursing care is not something my family can afford. Therefore, I am pleading with you all for financial support and any other assistance to get him in nursing home for rehabilitation including charity information.

Dear friends, you read this heart rendering crisis of Thapaliya Family. We, entire DC community would like to request collectively that please come forward and extend your helping hand. This is the most complicated case we have ever witnessed or dealt with. The hospital has done its level best and advised us to take the unconscious body to Nepal. His survival is subject to life support. If he is to be taken to Nepal it would cost $17,000.00 dollars just to transport. He can not fly commercially. We are in need of urgent cash since the hospital has been asking to take him now. He did not qualify for any of charitable donations and Medicaid due to the length of his stay. The bills run into thousands and we want to help the family any way we can.
Therefore, please help her and her family in this critical time.
